Domingo Liz (1931 - 2013)
Domingo Liz (1931-2013), was born Santo Domingo, capital and largest city in the Dominican Republic.
Sculptor, painter and illustrator, Domingo Liz graduated in 1949 from the National School of Fine Arts, where he studied under the guidance of the Spanish sculptor Manolo Pascual. From 1950 to 1953 he did postgraduate studies in painting under Jaime Colson.
In 1971, he presented his first solo exhibition at the then Gallery of Modern Art, today known as the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo.
Domingo Liz is best remembered for his work as an art educator. He was a professor at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) for twenty-eight years and the National School of Fine Arts (ENBA) for forty-two years.
