Martinez says that the National Pact for Education Reform should discuss the cost of textbooks and school supplies, as a matter of great importance, citing that the lucrative pursuits of this market goes beyond the purchasing power of families, who must make additional sacrifices to purchase text books and school supplies for their children.

"From the House of Representatives, interpreting the feelings of the people and in line with the agenda of the Executive, we have reported and faced this terrible distortion, which contravenes the serious effort by the government and various sectors of society to produce a qualitative change in the Dominican education system, "said Martinez in the proposal.

The letter is addressed to the Economic and Social Council (CES), the Government Education Committee and the Technical Committee in Support of the National Pact for Education Reform, and was presented to the full House of Representatives, which unanimously welcomed.
