Loma Miranda Mining Project Gets Denied

The news was announced Wednesday by Trajano Vidal Potentitini, the chairman of the Justice and Transparency Foundation, which revealed that the Ministry of Environment submitted documents to the Supreme Administrative Court, which establishes that the state agency has decided to deny clearance for the Loma Miranda project, "pending that the socioeconomic and environmental conditions and mining technologies, ensure a sustainable use of natural resource."
The Justice and Transparency Foundation reported that the hearing of preventive protection in the defense of hill Miranda filed by that institution to the Supreme Administrative Court, was postponed to April 14, "in order to fully review documents filed by Falconbridge and the Ministry of Environment, containing its arguments and positions on the issue. "
Yesterday, Monsignor Camilo Gonzálezof La Vega, and more than 50 priests met with senators of the Dominican Liberation Party and other members of several parties, seeking declaration of Loma Miranda as a national park.
