Helping farmers increase bean production in Dominican Republic

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Dominican Republic will prepare a model farm to show bean producers in the San Juan de la Maguana region the "impact" of farming methods being pushed by the government.

In a presentation to local farmers and the press, Agriculture Minister, Angel Estevez, said the institution must show examples to farmers of how it is possible to increase bean production four to five fold (which is more equivalent to the global quantity standard), with the proposed farming methods.

Esteves said that, to be efficient producers must apply technology to increase productivity.
