Raquel Paiewonsky


Raquel Paiewonsky was born in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. She graduated from the Altos de Chavon School of Design in 1991, and then moved to New York City where she attended the Parsons School of Design.

Her first solo exhibition was in 1992 at the Art Nouveau Gallery in Santo Domingo, RD.

Between 1991-2001 she lived in New York City, where she explored painting, sculpture, installation and photography, often combining more than one of these mediums.

In 2001 she returned to Santo Domingo where she currently lives and works.

Raquel Paiewonsky's works are part of collections at the Centro Cultural León in Santiago, RD, the Centro Cultural de España Santo Domingo, RD, the RISD Museum in Rhode Island, NY, the Daros-Latinamerica AG in Zurich, Switzerland, the Dominican Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo, RD and the Museum of Latin American Art , Long Beach, California.
