About the "Arco del Triunfo"
The "Arco del Triunfo" (Arch of Triumph) was contsructed by Barahoneros in appreciation of then President of the Republic (Trujillo), for the construction of the 65 kilometer long Enriquillo road linking Barahona with Azua, at a cost of RD$165,000. The monument was formally inaugurated on Sunday August 7, 1938.
