Belkis Ramirez (1957-2019), was born in Santiago Rodríguez, Dominican Republic. She studied Art and Architecture at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, took courses on Engraving at the Universidad de San José, Costa Rica and at the Altos de Chavón School of Design.
