Ruben Ubiera - In Our Element
"In Our Element" is mural by urban-pop artist Ruben Ubiera, located at Front Avenue (under US-131), in Miami, Florida. The mural tells the history of street art as an artistic medium from the Egyptian hieroglyphs to Pre-Columbian codices to 1980s tags to Post-Graffism. This narrative will is told using veiltail goldfish as they swim over a background of the graphic exploration. The existing lights in the tunnel, as well as the moving headlights of automobiles as they pass through it, will work in concert to achieve a dramatic effect, that will create the illusion of fish swimming between the columns of the tunnel through the interplay of shadow and light.
