Rosanna Cardenas Tavarez, born 1976, in New York City to Dominican parents. As a young girl she lived for several in the city of Santiago, Dominican Republic, where her parents immigrated from.
Her passion for art began at a young age. Drawing until the late hours of the night. Her dedication lead her to the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Her influences include Jose Garcia Cordero (Santiago, 1951), Gustavo Peña (Santo Domingo, 1979), and Scherezade Garcia (Santo Domingo, 1966), three popular Dominican artist of the contemporary era. Other artist that have influenced Rosanna include Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Wayne Thiebaud, Edgar Degas, Paul Gaugin, Alphonse Mucha, Tanya Shatseva, Soey Milk, Brandi Milne, and Wendy Ortiz.
