Leonora Carrington was born on April 6, 1917, in Clayton-le-Woods, Lancashire, England. She was a British-born Mexican artist and writer who became one of the most prominent figures of the Surrealist movement. Carrington's artistic journey led her to Mexico, where she settled and spent most of her life. Her paintings are characterized by their surreal and dreamlike qualities, often featuring mystical landscapes and mythical creatures. Beyond her visual art, Carrington was also a talented writer, known for her novels and short stories that explored themes of magic, transformation, and the subconscious. She passed away on May 25, 2011, in Mexico City, leaving behind a rich legacy in the world of art and literature.
