RF. Alvarez from Texas

RF. Alvarez, @_alvarez, a San Antonio-born artist now based in Austin, Texas, creates richly colored figurative paintings that explore his identity as a queer man with Mexican heritage and Texan cowboy roots. Through his skillful use of light, shadow, and color, he presents intimate portraits that convey themes of impermanence, indulgence, and belonging. A graduate of Wesleyan University, Alvarez has exhibited widely at galleries such as Ruiz-Healy, Taymour Grahne Projects, Preacher Gallery, and Uprise Art, with an upcoming solo show at Alanna Miller Gallery in May 2023.
