Jose Anico, Artist, Painter, Sculptor

Jose Anico is a painter, sculptor and graphic artist living in Princeton, New Jersey.

At age 14, Jose attened the Fine Art School of Santiago. From 1988 to 1991 he studied art and architecture in Moscow, Russia, a moment in his life which he remembers by saying "but I was lost there. They were undergoing a big transition."

He earned a A.A.S. of Fine Arts and Studio Arts from the Altos de Chavon School of Design in Dominican Republic, which he attended from 1994 through 1996.

Jose emigrated from the Dominican Republic to the United States in 1996, at age 28, and attended the Parsons School of Design from 1996 through 1998, where he earned a B.F.A. in Illustration.

From 2001 through 2002, Jose attened the New York Academy of Art, where he earned a M.F.A. for Painting and Drawing, and was awarded the Eric Fischl Scholarship and Prince of Wales Fellowship.

In 2010, Jose began teaching at the Mercer County Community College, later followed by teaching positions at the Arts Council of Princeton and Princeton Adult School.
